Today we worked at the church. They have just been able to rent the upstairs, so we spent the day tearing down walls, and getting it ready for them to paint and do some other things up there that they need to get done. After that we went Evangelizing in a park in downtown Chihuahua. It was awesome. While nobody came to Christ, we did plant the seeds so that hopefully one day they will be called to repentance. Went out afterwords to eat, as it was my last night here. It was nice hanging out with them one last time. This past month has been absolutely incredible, the Lord has shown me so much, and I look forward to being able to share with all of you what I have been convicted of. And also what the Lord is doing in my life and in Chihuahua. Thank you everyone for your prayers.
See you later.
In Christ,
Matt

Day 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, (Saturday-Thursday)
Day 22, Saturday
We had English class this morning at the church. They all seem to be understanding it pretty well, which is good. I am amazed at how many people actually want to learn English. After the English class we came home and did not do anything else the rest of the day.
Day 23, Sunday
Again church this morning was amazing. Pastor Sean finished up Acts 2. It was an excellent sermon. After church we went for another hike. This time it was just Chris, Sarah, and I. It was a lot of fun. We went up to the top and got to look down over the city, it was gorgeous. After the hike we went to the Rafferty's for some dessert. The dessert was ice cream, and bananas with chocolate syrup over tortilla chips. Some dessert that Pastor Sean made up. It was amazing. We played a few hands of Dominoes and then we played a game of Catan. It was a great time of fun and fellowship with just the 5 of us. All in all a great day.
Day 24, Monday
Today was our day off. Again we did not do much. We hung around the house all day. We worked on our Inductive Bible Study, which was a lot of fun. We ordered pizza for dinner and that was basically it. It was a nice day to sit back and reflect on all the Lord has shown me these past few weeks. Can't wait to share everything with you guys when I get home.
Day 25, Tuesday
Had class this morning at the church with Pastor Sean. Reading through the book Under His Influence. An amazing book so far, and I've only read the Introduction and the 1st Chapter. Definitely recommend this book to anybody. Went to the Orphanage at 3. Sadly this was my last day. I am going to miss these kids so much. To see the way they have changed just over the past couple weeks is amazing. They seem to be more attentive during the Devotions, which is awesome to see. When we told them this was my last time seeing them they seemed a little upset. Big hugs and kisses from all of them. Did I mention I am going to miss them a lot! To see the love that they for all of us is amazing. They love the fact that you come to play with them and hang out with them for 3 hours. We are constantly told by Ever that this is the highlight of their week. Which is awesome to know. I am so glad that I have had the chance to work with them these past few weeks. And I hope I have made a lasting impact on them. To see the love that Ever and his wife have for these kids is awesome as well. The Lord is using them for amazing things. They are parents to these children and all the children love them so much. They have taught these kids well. They are very well behaved and very polite. Ever and his wife love the Lord with all their hearts. Perfect examples of people who are not wasting their life.
Day 26, Wednesday
My last day of the Inductive Bible Study. It has been awesome to do this study through the book of Romans. The Lord has taught me so much through the 3 chapters that I have been able to do with them. (Ask me about it when I get back, way too much to write here. It would take forever) We went grocery shopping because Chad is back, and we went to a Christian bookstore to buy a Bible for one of the girls at the orphanage. Watched Nacho Libre while we ate dinner. Other than that we did not do anything. A pretty relaxing day.
Day 27, Thursday
My Last day of Light Shine :( It was an amazing day today. Something new they just started today. They had a couple of the mothers of some of the kids cook the meal. And the mothers got to stay for the entire time to see what happened during Light Shine. These kids have also changed a lot over the past couple of weeks. I am going to miss them immensely. Saying goodbye was hard. More hugs and kisses. Again these kids just love to have you come and play with them for 3 hours. I wish it was longer, the 3 hours just fly by. I also hope I have made a significant impact on these kids. I love them to death, and I have only known them a month. I am going to miss them so much. Continue to keep this program in prayer and also pray for the orphanage. Light Shine is growing and that is awesome to see. More kids need to be sponsored so pray for that as well. One more day and then I come home. Anxious to get home so I can share with everybody what the Lord is doing down here. But at the same time I don't want to leave.

Day 16, 17, 18,19, 20, 21 (Sunday-Friday)
Day 16, Sunday
Went to church this morning and Pastor Sean talked more on Acts 2. Another very good sermon. After church went to lunch. We went to where this girl's dad cooks. It's not really a restaurant, but her mom and dad cook food and sell it. It's kind of like a roadside place. We had a real Mexican lunch. It was pork on flour tortilla's with hot sauce. It was really good.
Day 17, Monday
Went for a hike today up one of the hill's around the edge of the city. We walked up a trail and down the side through rocks and a ton of underbrush and everything, but it was a lot of fun. Afterwords some people came over to our house to hang out for a little bit.
Day 18, Tuesday
We had our class where we are discussing the book Under His Influence, which is a really good book. Definitely recommend reading it. Later we went to the Orphanage. We were there for 3 hours. Had a devotion with them. We then teach some of the adults there English. We also took the kids out for ice cream. So they seemed to enjoy that. After that Chris and I went to the Men's Bible Study. We are discussing Joshua. Pastor Sean leads it.
Day 19, Wednesday
Had the Inductive Bible Study class today, which Chris Nickerson leads. It is a very interesting and somewhat challenging class. Especially when we have to share what verses touched us and how we are going to apply them to our lives. It definitely is dealing with heart issues, which is good. Not much else happening today.
Day 20, Thursday
Light Shine!! Still probably one of my favorite days of the week. I love working with these kids. Had a great time again today. Sadly I only have one more day of Light Shine and only one more day at the Orphanage. But today's Light Shine was pretty laid back. One of the stations they watched a short movie. One station they got play with either Hot Wheels or for the girls baby dolls. And the one station they made a representation of how our sins separate us from Christ and how the only way we can get across is because of His sacrifice and the cross. You all know what the representation looks like.
Day 21, Friday
Had a guys Bible Study with just me, Chris, and Pastor Sean. We are talking about relationships. And today we went into a discussion more of marriage relationships and how we as men need to be leaders. It was very good. Tonight we had a party for Hector and Gloria Oliva, because they just moved into a new house. The party was at the Nickerson's and everybody bought a house warming gift of some sort.

Day 14, Day 15 (Friday, Saturday)
Friday
Chris and I went out to Starbucks with Sean for a devotion. Talked about relationships and had a really good discussion. I was convicted of a lot. Went out at about 8:00 pm to go witnessing in downtown Chihuahua. It was awesome. Had a lot of good conversions with some people, and got them thinking and hopefully convicted them a little bit. Nobody gave their life to Christ, but at least we planted the seed. That's all we are told to do. We can't change people only God can.
Saturday
Helped teach an English class this morning at the church with Chris (the intern). It went really well. They seemed to understand everything that we said. So that was good. We took Chris (the intern) out to lunch cause it was his birthday today. Then we went over Rocio's later for cake and hung out for a little bit. Not much else went on today. So far this month has been amazing. The Lord has shown me so much and convicted me of a lot. Miss everybody, but having such an amazing time and wish I could stay longer.

Day 13, Thursdayq
Today was Light Shine. Again it was amazing. I had such a great time. Those kids grow on you so fast, and they wear you out. Hector is so amazing leading the devotions for them. He is so on fire for God, and it really shows. He has such a passion for those kids, as do all the ones who help out there. Nothing else happened today. Tomorrow we go evangelizing. Not sure where, but it should be an awesome time. That's it for now.

Monday, Teusday, and Wednesday
Day 10, Monday
Today was our day off. So what did we do? Nothing. We were around the house all day, mainly because we don't have a car. We worked on our inductive Bible study for Wednesday, but other than that a whole lot of nothing.
Day 11, Tuesday
Had devotions in the morning at church. We discussed 1 Kings 19, where Elijah ran away from Jezebel. Pastor Sean led it. It was just the interns. But it was really good. After that we went to the orphanage. We did a Bible study and played games with the kids there. Had such an amazing time with them.
Day 12, Wednesday
We went to church for our inductive Bible study class, led by Chris Nickerson. It was amazing. This was the first time I had really done something like this, and it was awesome. You definitely get a lot more out of Scripture when you study this way. It was a lot of fun. After that we watched a couple videos. A documentary on the revival in Uganda which was really intense. To see how they started out and then how they turned to God was amazing. We watched another video with Joel Rosenburg which was really interesting also. Then Chris (the intern) and I went over to Roscio's house and had dinner with the other interns. Tomorrow Light Shine!!!!

Day 9, Sunday
Sorry this is a day late, but I forgot.
Not much went on yesterday. Went to church, and then went out to eat. Headed back to the apartments where the Trautman's and Bynions were staying and said goodbye. Pray for safe travel as they head back to the states. The church service yesterday was amazing. Sean talked about Acts 2. It was amazing. Not enough time to go into detail, but it was very good. He talked about when the Disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit and they spoke in tongues. Then we came back to Chad's and hung out for awhile.

Day 8, Saturday
Today we went to the community center, where Light Shine is to paint the bathroom, fix the toilet, and install a new sink and cabinet. A lot of the kids from Light Shine showed up and we got to play with them and they helped paint the bathroom. It was a lot of fun. It was also nice that our group got to see them one last time before they had to head home. After that we went to the Children's Museum and were there for about 2 hours. We then went to downtown Chihuahua to see a fountain show. Another busy day, but the Lord is good. It was awesome to see the kids from our group playing with the kids from Light Shine. They got along great with them and the kids from Light Shine loved them. It is awesome to see the Lord working in these kids hearts.

Day 7, Friday
Hola again,
Another amazing day in Mexico. First we went to the Church to do a little bit of cleaning. Some touch up on the paint, cleaning spots on the carpet, and reorganizing the wires for the sound board. Guess what job I had? After that we headed over to the orphanage. It was awesome to see the love that Ever has for the kids. Since they are Christians and not Catholics they get no support from the government. I loved all these kids, even though I've only known them for 3 hours. To see how much they love you, all the hugs you get when you leave, and how they tug on your hands because they want you to stay makes it very hard for you to leave. It was awesome. You can really see the Lord working through Ever and his wife's lives. Did I mention there was a dog there that actually ate rocks. Very weird. I put some videos of it on Facebook if you don't believe me. But I digress. GOD is AMAZING!!!

Day 6, Thursday
Hey Everybody,
Wow, what can I say today was awesome. We went over to the Nickerson's to prepare for Light Shine. Light Shine was awesome. Getting to meet all the kids was awesome. They are so much fun and it was a lot of fun working with them. Continue to pray that the Lord works in their lives, as none of them come from Christian homes. Light Shine is the only time they get to hear about the Lord. So keep them in your prayers. After Light Shine we went out to dinner and after that we went to the lookout over the city. It was absolutely stunning. While up there we had a time of prayer for the city of Chihuahua and the Tarahumara communities. It was awesome. Continue to pray.
Thanks

Day 5
Today we left the base house and stopped at the Divisidero. Took some pictures of the canyon and bought a few things. We also saw the Balancing Rock. We drove back to Chad's house. Everybody went out to dinner, while I went with the interns to a meeting for the children's ministry. It was another good time of fellowship as I got to know the interns better and some of the people in the church. Not much else going on today.
Goodbye for now
P.S.

Day1, Day 2, Day3, and Day4,
Day 1
Hey Everybody,
I know these posts are a little off, but I've been in the canyon since Sunday and have not had a chance to update. Saturday we arrived in El Paso and Chad picked us up from the airport. We had no problems at the border and were able to get across rather quickly. When we got here we went out to dinner with Chad; Sean, Lisa, and their family; and Chris, Heather, and their family. As well as the 4 interns Christopher, Sarah, Christina, and Fatima along with Hector and his wife Gloria. It was a great time of fellowship getting to meet all of them the first night.
Day2
The church service Sunday morning was awesome. There is just something about singing worship in Spanish that to me was amazing. I could really feel God's presence in the room. It was awesome. The girl singing the Spanish parts, Lilly (I think), had an amazing voice and she was singing with her whole heart. After the service we headed to Barranco del Cobre (Copper Canyon) in the Sierra Tarahumara, and the base house. We met Rogelio and his wife Claudia and their three children Samuel, Isaiah, and Junior. We also met Cesi and her mother Sequorro. All extremely nice people. Sequorro is an amazing cook (as some of you already know), and her daughter is a firecracker, very funny and just that type of personality. Rogelio and his family were so patient with us as we all tried to communicate. Rogelio knew a little English , but it was just amazing to get to know them. We had a great time of fellowship with his family when Chad took the Bynion's to meet their pen pal, Annya. It was awesome.
Day3
This is the day everybody met Annya, and her. She was a sweet girl, very shy, but very sweet. She speaks no English, however she does understand a very small amount. They were all pretty shy, but very kind. We went to Copper Canyon in the morning and it was gorgeous. How anybody could look at this and think it happened by accident is beyond me. Absolutely stunning words can't even describe it and picture's can't capture it. Cuan grande es nuestro Dios (How great is our God). We also worked on Pastor Manuel's driveway, fixing potholes and ruts with rocks and dirt. Hopefully it will last through the next couple of rainfalls.
Day4
today we went to Cascada de Cusarare. Or the Cusarare Waterfall. Something esle that is absolutely gorgeous. The kids went swimming and we had another great time of fellowship. We came back and played soccer and kickball at the school that the kids go to. Annya came with us, but left to get other shoes so she could play with us. Sadly none of us went with her, because when she got pretty much right in front of the school she was attacked and bitten in the leg by a dog. Thankfully we were able to talk to the owner's and they said it was vaccinated. She didn't need stitches since it was puncture wounds instead of lacerations. She and her family came back to the base house after dinner to say goodbye to everybody. Praise the Lord she was okay.
So much more I want to say, but it will have to wait till I get back.

Getting Ready
Hey everybody just finished creating this. As many of you know I am getting ready to leave for Mexico on Saturday. I have been praying for about a year for the chance to go on a Missions tTrip, and the Lord has given me the oppurtunity to do this. I am so excited and I have no idea what to expect. I am not entirely sure what I will be doing, but I am trusting the Lord. I pray the Lord will use me in amazing ways, and I also pray that he will do something amazing in my life. Hopefully, I will be updating this daily, so I can let you know what the Lord is doing in my life and in Mexico. I will be gone for a month, and I would really appreciate your guys prayers. I am extremely excited, anxious, and ready to see the Lord work in amazing ways.
